What If It's Us: Minute Review

Updated: Feb 23, 2020

Welcome to my first MINUTE REVIEW! This new thread will be filled with quick reviews that can be read in 2 minutes or less. Quick, concise, straight-to-the-point: what's not to love? So, without any further ado, I present to you... my first Minute Review.

From the authors of the award-winning novels Simon vs the Homo-Sapiens Agenda and They Both Die at the End (which, side note, are both INCREDIBLE novels, and I DEFINITELY recommend checking them both out too!) comes an all-new, swoon-worthy, heart-eyes story that will make you feel ALL THE EMOTIONS!

What If It's Us is equal parts romance, witty banter, epic Harry Potter and Hamilton references, and absolutely brilliant writing. Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera are some of the most talented writers of the twenty-first century, and putting their skills and styles together was one of the best decisions that could have ever been made.

This novel was BY FAR one of the best novels I've read all year - and I don't take that lightly: this is in comparison to epic reads such as Sarah J Maas's A Court of Frost and Starlight, Stephanie Garber's Legendary and Morgan Matson's Save the Date.

Like all these other novels, What If It's Us is cute, sharp, witty and FUN. I flew through it, finished it in less than two nights - a feat really difficult when swamped with work and life in general. Yet Albertalli and Silvera are masters of their trade, sorcerers of literature... somehow, every one of their books gets better and better as the years go by, and What If It's Us was no exception: it was an extraordinary culmination of their combined epic-ness. How could it not be absolutely incredible?!

If I had to rate What If It's Us out of five stars, I'd honestly give it six out of five. (Unfortunately, though, no gif exists for that yet, so I'm going to include a five-star gif instead, 'cause that's the closest we're going to get).

Let's pretend that a six-star rating does exist, though. Then, yes. What If It's Us is a six-star story. Six out of five. It's just *that* great. Honestly, READ THIS BOOK. I promise, you're going to fall in love with Arthur and Ben, laugh at their misadventures, cry during their challenges and trials, cheer during their triumphs... and become absolutely enthralled in their epic and adorable story. Definitely a must-read for everyone: for each and every person on the planet, each and every being in the Universe. Don’t miss it!
